The region and local area offers many attractions including sightseeing, arts, entertainment and recreation facilities, shopping and a selection of excellent restaurants, cafes and clubs. Some attractions we recommend include:

- Experience Australia’s native animals at Symbio Wildlife Gardens;
- Be adventurous and go on a tandem hang glide or para glide with at Bald Hill, where early flight pioneer Lawrence Hargrave first took flight;
- Visit the educational and exciting Science Centre and Planetarium;
- Relax or take a stroll through the Wollongong Botanic Gardens;
- Take in the view of Wollongong harbour, and enjoy a great seafood lunch from award winning restaurants;
- Skydive the Beach with NSW’s only beach skydive;
- Sample some local beers at Five Islands Brewery;
- Visit the Nan Tien Temple, the largest Buddhist temple in the Southern Hemisphere;
- Enjoy a train trip with all the trimmings; Cockatoo Run is the Illawarra and Southern Highlands scenic railway experience;
